In Japan, a specific part of the population is Buddhist. The culture displays a great deal of appreciation for nature and for the environment around us. This is why they would open windows and doors in many Japanese homes to bring a sense of combining greenery to the interior inside, instead of attempting to isolate the outside from the indoors.
