16. No Temperature Control

Sleeping in a van was reserved for summer vacations because the nights were freezing. Even if your car has an air-condition, you cannot leave it running overnight because it will run out of gas. (Plus, it’s not good for the environment).

Anna’s Analysis (a YouTuber) talked about her experience with Van Life. She explained that before she started, she had planned an average temperature map to make sure she could drive across the United States in warm temperatures. However, there were many nights she had to sleep with many blankets, coats, hats, and gloves to stay warm. In the morning, the water in her tub would be almost frozen, but it was necessary to use it to wash dishes from breakfast before she drove to the next destination. “When you experience extreme temperatures, you will lose the motivation to do anything that could make you colder or hotter than you did,” Anna said.
